Walking routes Bike and hike routesGuided Walks in the Slovenian Alps
On each hike Nejc, Žana or Luka will accompany you. We're all locals to Slovenia and speak excellent English too. We're here to provide you with a unique insight into the Slovene people, culture and way of life.
Some days the guided walks start from Pri Lenart, and on others, we'll travel in our air-conditioned minibus to visit beautiful trails a short distance away. Stunning, pristine countryside awaits you in one of the few areas of Europe where you can walk all day without visual or noise pollution. Enjoy peaceful, beautiful rolling hills and upland meadows that have remained unchanged for centuries.
Besides a profusion of beautiful and unusual flowers, especially in the month of May when many rare orchids appear, there are also lots of butterflies during the summer months. A wide range of wildlife lives in these hills including chamois, deer, martens, and numerous birds such as peregrines, nutcrackers, Alpine choughs and capercaillie. You can also expect to gain an understanding of the history of the area, which formed the Italian border between the wars and has many fascinating remnants of the old fortifications.
Some trails pass farms where you can taste local produce, and glimpse a traditional timeless way of life. During the day, where possible, we stop for refreshments at mountain huts or with friendly farmers, so you get a chance to meet local people, gain a feel for Slovenian culture and taste traditional Slovenian specialities.
