Gourmet dining in Slovenia

Delicious food is a highlight of a guided walking holiday at Pri Lenart. We offer tasty Slovenian food prepared using local produce and as such, our menu changes according to the seasonable produce available. We grow a variety of organic fruit and vegetables in our large orchard, forming the basis of our meals and as we are 900 metres above sea level, our seasonal crops are ready slightly later than in England. We ensure that where possible, all other produce we use is sourced from local organic farms and shops.

We want your experience of dining in Slovenia to be one you remember, and we pride ourselves on offering delicious, balanced meals using the finest locally sourced ingredients. Every meal is lovingly prepared in our kitchen, plated on fine bone china and eaten with beautiful handmade cutlery, making the experience extra special. Dinner is served alongside our locally sourced wine, which is carefully chosen and blended by us - the red and white come from a small Slovenian family estate in the Vipava Valley in southern Slovenia.

We aim to give our guests a real taste of Slovenian food, here is an example of what you can expect:

Breakfast:

Each day begins with tea and coffee in your room, followed by a hearty breakfast to set you up for a day of guided walking. Help yourself to a selection of fresh fruit juices, homemade muesli, cereals, seeds, dried fruit, nuts, yogurt, toast, homemade jam, preserves and a cooked dish of the day, accompanied by a variety of teas and fresh cafetiere coffee.

Lunch and refreshments:

On guided walking days, we prepare filled rolls, packed alongside fresh fruit, chocolate and muesli bars. Additional drinks and snacks can be purchased en-route from the local mountain restaurant or farmhouse - giving you an additional insight into traditional Slovenian food.

Tea:

Upon returning back to Pri Lenart from a guided walk, you will enjoy a selection of freshly baked cakes and traditional pastries - served alongside tea, coffee and homemade fruit cordials on the terrace. As ┼Żana comes from Bosnia, we will also serve »jabolcna pita«, a sweet flaky pastry made using an old family recipe by ┼Żana’s Grandma.

Dinner:

Slovenian food is influenced by the diversity of our landscape, climate, history and neighbouring cultures. During dinner, we like to show our guests this diversity by serving local dishes as canapes and starters, such as, "štruklji" (dough with various fillings), "ri?et" (barley porridge), cmoki (a sort of filled dumpling) and gnocchi to name a few!

A pre-dinner aperitif, canapés and house wine are included alongside a 3-course dinner 6 days a week, including a main course choice with a vegetarian option (not vegan). Our complimentary house wine flows freely during dinner and is followed by a choice of liqueurs made from our homemade fruit Schnapps.

On Wednesdays, we invite you to dine out for a traditional Slovenian dinner at a nearby organic farm - this is a great experience and offers the chance to try some extraordinary Slovenian food outside of Pri Lenart. This is included as part of your all inclusive holiday price.

Cold beers, wines and a range of soft drinks are available 24-hours a day from our honesty bar.

Please note: unfortunately we are unable to cater for special diets (e.g. dairy free, wheat free, vegan), however we can cater for vegetarians who are happy to eat dairy produce and eggs. Any food allergies should be communicated prior to booking, we will then confirm if we are able to accommodate your requirements.
